I'm obsessed with very boho outfits. What models should I look at who have this style?
Abbey Lee Kershaw’s very boho. I think Anja Rubik’s style could be described as boho luxe, so you can check her out too. Hanne Gaby’s style is more eclectic that just downright boho, but I’ve seen her in quite a few bohemian outfits. Abbey Lee is your best bet though.
Hello! I read that you're a fashion writer or something of that sort? So may I ask for what exactly you're writing? Also... which magazines etc. could help me to get to know more about fashiom/designers/styles etc.?
I’d rather not say where I work. As for magazines, you can’t go wrong with Vogue, Elle, and Harper’s Bazaar. I prefer the British versions myself. Immerse yourself in Style.com’s fashion week slideshows too.
Slightly short tank top paired with plain black bandage skirt and a deep burgundy red cardigan , what would you wear for shoes? It's a very casual outfit. I don't have sandals. Only flats and my legs are chunky but not super super chunky. So flats make me look really short and doesn't elongate my legs.
Creepers would look quite cute with that. And while they’re not technically flats, they aren’t heels either!
hey doll i was just wondering if you could please give me some fashion advice? i wanted to know what shoes you would wear with this ourfashion-industry(.)tumblr(.)com/post/69190606393/clear-black-pvc-circle-skirt-white-ponte i have no idea what shoes to wear with it so if you could please help me that would be wonderful!! thank you xx
Where is the best place to search for a prom dress that doesn't look so traditional?
Try Modcloth, Shopbop, Asos. If you’re willing to splash out a bit, Three Floor (seriously stunning and unique), Red Valentino, and Lover have amazing dresses. Instead of going for something that screams “PROM,” you can go for a pretty cocktail dress you can still wear again after that night.
I love Freja beha's style. What are her fashion staples must haves and how can i get her style?
Freja’s quite boyish when she dresses up. Nab her style with black skinny jeans, leather jackets, band shirts, plain gray, black, or white shirts, black long-strap bags, and tough black boots. Basically a lot of black! Add messy bedhead, and that’s you sorted.
is there any sensible way to wear knee/thigh high socks without them slipping down after a few metres? thanks! i'm at flatlayDOTtumblrDOTcom (:
Hmm, they sell those double-sided tape for clothing, right? I found a cosplay forum that suggests using sock glue, too. Those people seem to know what they were talking about, so you could try that. And lastly, I read somewhere that if you put a rubber band around your leg/thigh then fold your sock over it, it won’t budge! Hope one of these work for you. :)
Hi, you seem to give the best fashion advise. I have somescreenshots of them. I was wondering, for an Asian or someone with black hair. How do I look fashionable wearing one colour (blonde girls look beautiful in all black, but I look goth in black)
Nothing wrong with looking a bit goth, in my opinion! It’s very apt and in line with the season too. ;) Really, I don’t see why your hair should be an issue in going monochromatic. If you don’t want black, there’s a host of other colors out there.
What to do when you have thin legs but your thighs are not so thin? It's difficult to find jeans to make your legs look nice :/
Why don’t you try wide-legged jeans? The flared hem will balance your thighs out and make things look proportioned. But I don’t see why you can’t wear skinny jeans too! In general, just go for dark washes to keep things streamlined. Avoid anything faded on your thighs. You can also camouflage your thighs with a longer top—maybe a longer cardigan or parka over your shirt?
Why should I wear with sundresses? Those kinds that are very common that are thin straps, come in lots of different designs and since up at the waist or below the bust area. I'm thinking about wearing it as a casual outfit to my dental appointment.
Wear it alone with espadrilles, Keds, ballet flats, or flat sandals. You can also throw a denim jacket or a parka on top if it gets chilly. A parka and ankle boots would look cute with a sundress. :)
Hi there. I am cury and petite but i want to wear clothes like jourdann dunn's street style, or any model's effortless chic style. What clothing items that you recommend that will flatter my body shape? Thanks!
Like all models, Jourdan loves her skinny jeans, but I noticed she can be quite womanly too. Since you’re curvy, I suggest you go for a silhouette that’s nipped at the waist and flares out at the hips. Try a fit and flare dress, or a leather skirt with a tucked in sweater. But if you really want to, I don’t see why you can’t wear skinny pants. Just pair them with a top that skims your curves.
what's a good jean brand? some classic dark wash skinny jeans, preferably comfy, fits well, the like :)
If you want something affordable, you can’t go wrong with brands like Levi’s and Gap. Uniqlo, Topshop, and Cheap Monday are worth checking out too, if you can find them in your city. If you’ve got a bit more cash to spend, try J Brand, Diesel, and MiH.
When going to concerts in general, I think it’s important to be comfy. You’re going to be on your feet and dancing for most of the night, so shoes you know won’t hurt your feet are important. I personally like echoing the style of the musician I’ll be watching. Drake’s is very downtown and urban, so I’d go for a plain shirt, a leather-sleeve varsity or bomber jacket, skinny jeans, and cool sneakers.
im a guy and i only follow girl fashion blogs for fun and stuff. i dont really care much about what i wear but im starting to now. so do u think u can recommend some inspirational guy fashion blogs for me?
HI there! I’m not that familiar with men’s fashion blogs, but I’ve done my research, and these are a few you can check out:
You give fantastic fashion advice, so here is my question! I'm going to a football game Saturday but I want to look chic and cozy without over doing it. The colors for the team are orange and blue. What do you suggest I wear?
Aaw, thanks! And that sounds like a lot of fun. :) Okay, when I hear “chic and cozy,” I immediately think of sweaters. I know I’ve suggested that so many times here, but it really is a good way to stay warm yet stylish. Go for a slightly longer one than you normally wear, balance it with a short, flippy pleated skirt, and add tights and hi-top sneakers ( I love Nike Blazers). Inject your team colors by adding an orange beanie with your blue sweater, or the other way around. :)
I have 2 questions for you! 1. I have quite broad shoulders and I am insecure about them, what kind of clothes should I wear to make them appear smaller? 2. I like my long legs, so what kind of clothes should I wear that will suit them/make them look nice? THANKYOU so much :))
Hi! To make your shoulders appear slimmer, you can try wearing pants and skirts that have a bit more volume. Doing so balances your proportions. Wide-legged jeans and full skirts are a good option. You should also avoid anything too structured up top; try soft blouses and halter tops instead.
Now about those long legs. I can’t imagine anything that would make long legs look bad, since you have so much to work with! That said, skinny jeans, short hemlines, and high waisted anything really complement your coltish lower half. Just be wary of how short you dare go. You won’t want to look like you’ve forgotten to wear bottoms. ;)
Hey :) I loooove your blog so much, thank you for sharing! I´ve got a question, tomorrow I´ve got a job interview at Urban Outfitters and I have no idea what to wear!! Please help me! xoxo
Hi there! Thank you as well. :) You should definitely strive to look professional, but since UO is a fashion retailer, you can also let loose a bit and show your personal style. So while you should stick to tailored silhouettes, you can inject some color or print into your outfit. If you’re going to wear a blazer-blouse-skirt combo for instance, you can choose a blouse in a quirky print and interesting shoes (keep them closed-toe, though). Likewise, you can wear a classic neutral dress with a bright jacket, or vice versa. Accessories-wise, choose just one statement piece. I would suggest earrings or a necklace; a stack of bangles would be noisy and distracting. Best of luck!
I really enjoyed this blog before all the "style advice". A couple of them have been rude and they really do read like you are telling people what to do, and telling people to avoid certain looks even if those looks are what they like and suit them.
They’re asking, and I’m giving answers. If I overthink every single question I get asked on here, I’m going to go crazy. Please, please tell me what is wrong about voicing my opinion? At the end of the day, I’m just trying to be helpful. I don’t know these people. I don’t know their backgrounds. I don’t know their preferences apart from the ones they share with me. So when I read a question, I approach it the best way I can.
It’s too bad you’re no longer happy with the kind of blog I’m running. But I’m enjoying the way it is right now. If you don’t like the content, there’s that small Unfollow button up top. You know what to do.
i wear a lot of sneakers.. pretty much all i have when it comes to footwear is sneakers.. converse, vans, keds... i even wear them sometimes with formalwear because it's really who i am. i crave comfort. i have a good figure, but really strong legs, and sometimes wonder what looks best when wearing skirts/shorts/dresses: hi-top sneakers or lo-top? sometimes i get the feeling that the hi-top ones make my legs look shorter? i'm 5'6. love your blog, thanks!
Hi-top sneakers usually end at your ankle so they have a tendency to cut off your legs, giving the illusion of shorter legs. Everyone—even models—fall prey to this so you’re not alone. You can get around this and wear them with skirts and dresses by pulling on a pair of tights. If you’re going bare-legged, low ones may be a safer option. :)
Recently I've been trying to make my style more cohesive and concrete. Part of me really likes the kind of bohemian, 70's inspired, free people-esque stuff. But I'm also kind of into 60's, mod, Alexa Chung type fashion. Any tips on successfully blending the two? Or maybe even style icons that have managed to do so?
I think Michelle Williams’ style is a perfect blend of 70s and 60s influences. She loves those little shift dresses that are 60s in shape, but 70s in how floaty, breezy, and lacy they are. She can be quite gamine, boyish, and quite 60s, but then there’s always a feminine, graceful element to her clothes that’s a bit boho. Both her casual and red carpet style affirm to this effortless blend, so I suggest you do a quick search of her outfits. :)
Right now, I love anything with gray undertones. Nudes, blues, greens, lilacs—as long as they have a grayish cast, I’ll gravitate toward them. That doesn’t mean I won’t wake up one day and want to paint my nails in glitters or neon colors. But that’s what’s so fun about polish, right? You don’t have to stick to just one.
what more professional, a proper 4 inch heel or a kitten heel? assuming they're both just plan black
Either would work, but if you want to feel confident, I suggest you go for the 4-inch ones. There’s just something about striding in higher heels that makes you feel like you can take on anything. ;) Assuming you’ve had practice walking in them, of course!
I'm searching for 3 things but can't find them. Hope you can help..? 1) a big leopard bag (so many bags with an ugly leo print) 2) a big shiny crocodile print bag (think Givenchy Antigona Shiny Croco Pattern) 3) T-bar sandals with a thick heel, no stiletto-ish All tips and suggestions are welcome! Thanks in advance! xx
You just advised a girl to stick to darker colors to avoid looking too cutesy or precious for a date. could you elaborate on why you think this is bad? seems so stupid to have to make yourself less cute in order to impress a fucking guy.
It also seems stupid to stick to pastel colors and frou frou dresses “to have to make yourself cute in order to impress a fucking guy.”
I love Mira Duma's style, but I cannot afford major designer brands quite yet. What stores could I find similar designs close to her style?
I hate to sound like a broken record, but honestly, Zara and H&M are treasure troves for designer-inspired clothes. You can pretty much count on those two to have knockoffs of the designer pieces Miroslava likes to wear.
I am having a first date with this guy and don't what to wear. We are going out for sushi.
A sheer blouse loosely tucked into printed slim-fit pants. Wear with heels if you’re comfortable walking in them; if not, ballet flats. You also can’t go wrong with a pretty dress and ankle boots. Stick to darker colors to avoid looking too cutesy or precious.
I'm going to Paris for a week. What fashion staples should I buy? I already have leather boots, a big coat and skinny black jeans.
Oxblood leather pants, a cream knit sweater, another pair of shoes (something dressier, perhaps, like low Mary Jane pumps or shiny oxfords), a cocktail dress (I love anything velvet for the holidays!), a button down to wear alone or under your sweater, an embellished top for night, a boyish blazer to throw over your thinner tops when a coat is too hot, a black cross-body bag for day, and a sleek clutch for night (try one in a metallic finish). Have fun in Paris! x
